Taking Care Of Doors in Busy Traffic Areas
With budgets under pressure more companies are realizing the benefits of extending the life of doors and frames using door protection systems. These low cost products are ideal for both reconditioning worn doors or extending the life of new doors.
Heavy duty door protection panels provide much needed protection to vulnerable door surfaces from damage caused by vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Modern production methods make the cutting and shaping of panels possible to ensure they match your requirements exactly.
Door Protection Panels & Plates
The most vulnerable part of the door can be protected using thin panels of metal or PVCu. The areas that are most susceptible to wear include the bottom of the door and the area alongside the door handle and panels tend to be attached to these areas. Advanced machining techniques mean that panels can be produced to various shapes and sizes to meet the particular requirements of a building.
Door Edge Protectors
Door Edge Protectors can give existing damaged doors a new lease of life. They can be fitted to new or existing doors and there is no limitation on the thickness of the door. Custom forming of profiles make it possible to fit to all types of doors such as swing, radius and square doors.
In the case of fire doors, Door Edge Protectors are available with fire/smoke seals to achieve the half hour and one hour fire rating.
Door Frame & Architrave Protectors
As door frames loose their shape over time, Door Frame & Architrave Protectors generally need to be made to measure. Impact resistance capabilities are provided by using PVCu and this provides the added benefit of reducing sharp edges.
Note: Cutting panels to size often leaves residue material and it’s often possible to make up Push/Kick Plates from such residue at a significantly reduced cost.
Accessibility
Partially sighted people are assisted by D- Plates. A requirement for door handles to be easily recognizable can be met by adding d-plates to the door rather than having to replace the entire door handle.
Colours and Finishes
A wide range of colours are generally available and most suppliers will be able to provide a colour card and/or surface samples. The effects of abrasion can be concealed by using heavily textured surfaces such as Hessian. The edges of panels should be chamfered to leave a smooth, safe edge.
Installation
Double sided sticky tape is used to fix panels, D plates and door edge protectors so only basic DIY skills are needed. More advanced skills are needed for Door Frame & Architrave systems.
